Isabel Jane Brown

Isabel Jane Brown 89, of Lower Newport passed away peacefully at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, OH on April 1, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Barlow, OH, on her family’s farm on June 10,1928.

She graduated from Vincent High School, Vincent, OH, class of 1946. She attended White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio and graduated in the RN program in 1949. She married Donald M. Brown on Oct. 8,1949 in Barlow, OH. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed the woods, flowers and the beauty of nature. As a girl, she was a member of 4-H and spent many happy summers at Camp Hervida.

During her career as a registered nurse she was employed at Union Carbide Metals Division, Marietta Memorial Hospital, and also as a private duty nurse. She was a member of the United Methodist Church located in Barlow, OH. She will be missed for her dry wit.

She is predeceased by her parents, the late Charles E. & Janet Finch Lawton of Barlow, her husband and soul mate Donald M, Brown, sister Mary Lou West, brother Irvin H. Lawton, and brother Edward Lawton.

She is survived by her daughter Jane Ann (Paul) Snell of Lower Newport, OH, sons Walter Mark Brown of Lower Newport, OH and John Carl Brown of Rio Rico AZ, a sister, Shirley L. Ormiston of Belpre, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind 4 Grandchildren, Joshua Mark Brown (Mary Beth) of Athens, OH, Carli Meagan McGovern (Michael) of Cincinnati, OH, David Mark Brown (Kristen) of Issaquah, WA and Tyler Quentin Snell of Lower Newport, OH and 4 Great Grandchildren, Rachel McGovern, Meagan McGovern & Henry McGovern of Cincinnati, OH, Lillian Laura Brown of Issaquah, WA and a lifelong dearest friend from childhood Jean Proctor Jones of Marietta, OH.

As per her wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services. There will be a small family burial. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at New Matamoras Cemetery, New Matamoras, OH.
