James “Art” Martin

James Arthur “Art” Martin, 70, of Marietta passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 12:30 pm at Heartland of Marietta.

He was born on June 5, 1938, in Fay, Ohio, to Guy and Hazel Leona Brookover Martin.  Art retired in May, 2007, after 50 years of service with Broughton Foods where he was a truck driver and route manager.  He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying and playing golf.

On March 29, 1958, he married Delma Westbrook who preceded him in death on February 11, 2008.

Art is survived by 2 daughters:  Elizabeth (Greg) Panzik and Joanne Martin; 4 grandchildren:  Bryan and Ashley Davidson, Chad Fish, and Michelle (Steve) Warren; and 2 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 1 brother, David (Linda) Martin of Aztec, NM, and 2 sisters:  Grace Uhl of Vienna, WV and Ruth Warrington of Carrollton, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 4 brothers and 1 sister:  Vernon, Wilbur, William, and Larry Martin, and Garnet McMillen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday (Feb. 5) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Delbert Westbrook officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday with family present from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8.
