James E. Brown
Another veteran, James E. Brown, 70, of Watertown, passed away at 3:10 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Marietta on November 29, 1940, a son of Bill and Nadine Casto Brown. He had been employed at River Oil Company as a truck driver then became owner and operator of B & N “Duke” Service Station and later was employed by Connex and he retired from Laborer’s Union Local 639 in 2002. Jim was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the U. S. Army from 1964 to 1967, was a member of American Legion Post 64, Veterans of Foreign War Post 5108 and the DAV West Virginia Chapter 6.
On June 10, 1972, he married Jacqueline Karcher Fink who survives with 2 sons and 3 daughters: William David Fink, Jr. of Waverly, WV, Debra Doebereiner of Beverly, Gwen Parker of Marietta, Megan (Kristjan) VanWey of New Castle, IN, Dan Brown of Reno, OH; grandchildren: Melinda and Bill Boswell, Ryan and Michele Beebe, Kayla and Kristen Trent, and JW, Nicholas and Cora Brown, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his brother Jack (Rose) Casto of Marietta and half brother Richard Gephart of Marietta
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sundra Wright and brother, Gary Brown.
Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Friday (December 31st) from 7 until 9 pm. At his request, his body will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
