James E. Douglas
James E. Douglas, 60, of Neff Ridge Road, Marietta, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge.
He was born in Akron, Ohio, on December 14, 1947, a son of Carl E. and Mary Elizabeth Bostaph Douglas. He was employed by Cytec at Willow Island. Jim was a member of Newport Baptist Church where he had been a Trustee and Deacon and a youth leader and Sunday school teacher. He was a 1965 graduate of Lawrence High School. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid fan of Ohio State, Steelers, Jeff Gordon and horse riding, four wheelers, bicycling and the out of doors. He adored his 2 granddaughters.
On July 2, 1966, he married Carolyn Edgar who survives with their son Michael A. Douglas of Marietta, 2 granddaughters: Manda and Michaela; 4 brothers and 5 sisters: Carol (Karen) Douglas, John (Susan) Douglas, Gary (Kathy) Douglas, Raymond (Peggy) Douglas, Joan (Loren) Farley, Mary Antill, Peggy (Bob) Adams, Dorothy (Ted) Barth, Betty ( Andy) Neader, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann and Tim Carrothers, mother-in-law Dorothy Edgar and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Douglas, brother-in-law Richard Antill, father-in-law John Edgar.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5th, at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Marvin Sallee officiating. Burial will be in Newport Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday at noon until the hour of the service.
