James (Jim) Edward Kuroski Sr, 85 of Marietta, OH, passed away peacefully Feb. 26, 2024. He was born in Farmington WV, July 10, 1938, and lived in Fairmont WV before moving to Marietta, OH in 1968. Jim was a graduate of East Side Fairmont High School where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. In 1950 he was on the first Little League All Star Baseball All State team advancing to the State Championship. At East Side Fairmont High School Jim was a pitcher and infielder, considered one of the best pitchers in his time. In 1956 Jim was the career scoring leader in Basketball and was known for his speed and jumping. Jim was also a standout on the football field, known for his speed and agility. In 1957 Jim proudly joined the United States Marines where he was a Rifle Marksmanship and honorably discharged as Lance Corporal. In Paris Island, SC, Camp Lejeune Jim won 8 first places in rifle competitions. He was on the 2nd Division Rifle team and won the First Annual Cherry Point High Powered Rifle Championship. Jim went on to serve in Beirut, Lebanon, Asia and throughout the Middle East.

Jim had a lifelong career in coal mining, construction and retired from Mole Master Services Corporation. He loved watching football, especially the Ohio State and Pittsburg Steelers.

After serving his country Jim married his lifelong love, Edythe Trippett Kuroski on August 11, 1962, in Marietta OH. Jim is survived by Edythe, his loving wife, of 61 years as well as his children Debbie (Pat) Walsh, Jennifer (Jim) Kimmons and Jim (JoEllen) Kuroski Jr, 3 grandchildren, Courtney Walsh (fiancé Jason Smith), Alexis Walsh (fiancé Raaj Patel) and Evan Kuroski. Additionally, Jim is survived by his sister Penny (John) Merrifield and special sister-in-laws Wanda Trippett, Joy Trippett and Neva Sandford, brother-in-law Richard Woody and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was proceeded in death by his father Henry (Doc) Kuroski, his mother Helen Stanley Kuroski, sister Mary Jean Finnerin (Bob), sister Dorothy Woody, brother John Kuroski (Rowenna), father- in-law Ralph Lee Trippett, mother-in-law Mary Collins Trippett, brother-in-law Lynn Sandford, sister-in-law Shirley Trippett, sister-in-law Nancy Dye and nephews.
