James Ray Maddox

James Ray Maddox, 85, of Barlow passed away at 3:30 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2018, at his home. He was born June 12, 1933, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of George W. Maddox and Estella Robbins Maddox.

Jim had been employed as Secretary/Treasurer at Bartlett Farmers Bank. He was Past Grand Master of Bartlett Masonic Lodge and a member for 50 years, member of Marietta Chapter 59 Eastern Star, Charter member of Scenic Hills Lions Club, member Bartlett United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

On June 18, 1955, he married Esther “Betty” Wise Maddox who preceded him in death December 31, 2012. Surviving are his son and daughter, Michael R. Maddox of Bartlett and Patricia A. (David) Graham of Bartlett; grandchildren, Amy Graham (Thomas) Bean of Barlow and Tabatha Graham of Marietta; 4 great grandchildren: Cameron J. Bean of Barlow, Miranda Bean of Columbus, Lucian Snyder of Marietta and Piper Webster of Marietta. He is also survived by his niece Pam Wise of Marietta and nephew Jerry Maddox of Vincent.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Carl O. Maddox.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (Jan. 4) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with interment following in Bartlett Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
