James S. “Dad” Badgett
James S. “Dad” Badgett, 89, of Marietta, passed away at 5:20pm on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 10, 1922, at Spencer, West Virginia, a son of C. Kester Badgett and Lu Famie Lantz Badgett. He was retired from American Cyanamid Company, operated Butch’s Coke Cola Museum, was a veteran of World War II both Navy and Army Air Corps, a charter member of Oak Grove Fire Department, Leader of The Boy Scout Troop 206, The American Legion Post 64 and an advisor to the Sons of The Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Harmar Bridge Company, VFW Post 5108 and a member of Gilman United Methodist Church. He was known for his wit, love of animals and for helping people.
He married Martha Jane Marlow who preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, James M. “Butch” Badgett of Marietta.
A memorial service will be from 2 to 4:30, Saturday, October 8th at the VFW Post 5108 in Marietta.
