Jane Madden Scott

Mary Jane Madden Scott, 96, of Marietta, passed away on Thursday evening, April 21, 2011, at her home.

She was born on March 11, 1915, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of Ira Paine and Bertha Chapman Madden.  She graduated from Columbus School for Girls and The Ohio Sate University in Home Economics where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.  She worked 2 years in Buffalo, NY, for Buffalo Niagara Electric Company in Home Service Department and after her marriage was a homemaker.  She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church where she held various offices in United Methodist Women.

On October 19, 1940, she married Robert Harper Scott who preceded her in death on January 18, 2011.  Jane is survived by 1 son and 3 daughters:  Richard Hayward Scott and his wife Lucy of Waverly, WV, Jill M. Poldemann and her husband Gus of Marietta, Rebecca Jane Scott of Marietta, Sheila Chapman  Zeune and her husband Mark of Pataskala; grandchildren:  Robert Hamilton Scott, Kristin Poldemann (Wayne) Bartholomew and Erik Poldemann, Cale H. (Kate) and Megan Jane Zeune and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashlee Jane Scott on October 11, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at 7 pm Friday, May 27th at Christ United Methodist Church.  At Jane’s request her body was cremated and interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
