Janet L. Griffin

Janet L. Griffin, 92, of New Matamoras, formerly of Rinard Mills, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born on February 20, 1916, in Monroe County, Ohio, to James T. “Tony” and Matilda J. Graham Scott.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in New Matamoras.

Janet is survived by 3 daughters:  Ruth (Donnie) Huffman of New Matamoras, Carolyn (Robert) Winkler of Clarington, Marjorie (Dean) Hall of Marietta, 8 grandchildren:  Father Timothy Huffman of Lowell, Lori (Rick) Robinson of Marietta, Sharon (Dan) Caretti of Clarington, Chris (Kathleen) Hall of Marietta, Susan (Joe) Hupp of Lowell, Mark (Nancy) Huffman of Marietta, Cindy (John) Felton of New Matamoras and Jennifer (Andy) Stirm of Bucyrus, 19 great grandchildren, one brother, John (Doris) Scott of Alliance and two sisters, Donna (Charles) Dougherty of Alliance and Zetta Hill of New Matamoras and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James W. Griffin, brothers, Ralph and Chauncy Scott and sister, Beryl Lisk.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Shawver and Father Timothy Huffman officiating.  Burial will be in New Matamoras Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 pm on Monday with family present from 2 until 4 and from 6 until 8.
