Janet Louise Knowlton

Janet Louise Knowlton, 74. of Marietta, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 9. 2025 at Harmer Place Rehabilitation and Extended Care. Janet was the daughter of the late Charles and Geraldine Handschumacher of Lower Salem.
Janet was married to Jeffrey Knowlton for 54 years where she was a homemaker raising her three children, Steven (Mary) Knowlton, Sandra (John) Ridenhour, and Eric (Lesly) Knowlton.
Janet was a faithful servant to the Lord through teaching Sunday school, junior church. Awana and vacation bible school at Whipple Community Church and later at Twin Rivers Baptist Church. She really enjoyed working with the kids to learn memory versus’ and teaching the kids about Jesus. She also was a member of the Warren Fire Department ladies auxiliary serving in many different roles. She helped start the Bramblewood Buckeyes 4-H club and volunteered as an election worker, in which she was a precinct lead for the Warren south precinct for many years.
Janet loved to cook, preparing meals and desserts for her family, friends and neighbors. Janet also loved to travel, as she and Jeff took several cruises with their close friends Paul and Bev Stacy. They also enjoyed numerous trips to Pigeon Forge, TN. She loved to go watch her kids and grandkids play sports or participate in plays and other activities. Janet always put others first.
Janet is survived by her husband, children, 8 grandchildren: Brandon (Alyssa) Whittle, Richard (Joe) Knowlton. Natalie (Garrett) Bertram, Madison (Brandon) Becker. Katelynn (Eric) Arsenault, Mia Knowlton, Miley Knowlton and Jace Knowlton and 6 great grandchildren: Karson, Tyson. Weston, Hudson, Lea and Wade. She is also survived by siblings Joyce Morgenstern, Joan McMannes, Roger (Brenda) Handschumacher and Randy (Pam) Handschumacher and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, parent in laws Ralph and Willa Knowlton, brothers Russell and Roland Handschumacher, and two sets of twin great grandchildren born prematurely Sawyer and Sutton Whittle, and Milo and Judah Becker.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to friends Cindy and Tynickia who helped care for her for the last year and to the Amedisys hospice care group who helped in the last few months.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday June 14th at Twin Rivers Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Baumer officiating. Burial to follow in Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Twin Rivers Baptist Church building fund or to the Warren Township Fire Department.
