Janie G. Eddy

Janie G. Eddy, 91, of New Matamoras passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at the home of her daughter surrounded by family.
Janie was born July 24, 1922 in Washington County, Ohio to C.R. (Raymond) and Amanda Thomas Westbrook. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939. Janie was a homemaker. She loved people, especially her big family. Janie enjoyed quilting, collecting buttons, flower and vegetable gardening and was a volunteer for The American Cancer Society.
On June 8,1939 Janie married Karl D, Eddy. They celebrated 61 years together. She was a member of Mount Hope Church of Christ (Eddy Ridge) and the Independence Township Senior Citizens.
Janie is survived by three sons, Gale (Ruth) and Dale (Judy) of New Matamoras and Kenneth (Teresa) Eddy of Marietta: two daughters, Mary (Gene) Graham of New Matamoras, and Kay (Tim) Fleeman of Woodsfield; 20 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred (Janice) Westbrook and Delbert (Margaret) Westbrook of Marietta, one sister, Sara Lou (Ray) Becker of New Matamoras. There are four sister-in-laws, Jerry Westbrook, Wilda Eddy, Ruth Eddy, all of Marietta and Goldie Long of Woodsfield; one brother-in-law Gale Bartmess of Marietta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lucille Bartmess and Goldie Wagner, brother, Ralph Westbrook, brother-in-Law Ollie Wagner, and her husband.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to Little Muskingum Fire Department or Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Feb. 25) at 1:30 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Jeremy D. Joy officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
