Jeanne Hall Strecker Edwards, 94, passed from this life at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born to Leslie W. and Louise Wendelken Hall on August 26, 1923 at Marietta, OH.

She attended Marietta City Schools and the University of Cincinnati, College of Nursing and Health, where she received the degree of B.S. in Nursing in 1945. She worked at the Oak Ridge Hospital, Oak Ridge, Tennessee as well as Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was one of the organizers of the Franciscan Meal program in Marietta. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was active in the church as well as the UMW and Susanna Circle. She belonged to Chapter U of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 50 years. She was a docent for The Castle and was one of the first two women to serve on the YMCA Board of Directors. She had served on the Women’s Home Board and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a past member of Iris Chapter of the Eastern Star, Danville, Illinois and White Shrine of Jerusalem #10, Marietta, OH.

She married Charles E. Strecker on June 26, 1944. He died February 4, 1959. She is survived by three children: Dr. Charles (Cassie) Strecker of New Carlisle, Joanne (Samuel) Lincoln of North Canton, and Daniel (Dana) Strecker of Marietta. Jeanne is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Lydia (Dan) Carpenter and their children Joseph and Abigail Detamore; Cassandra Strecker and her son Samuel Stormer; Isaac (Amy) Strecker and their children Sarah, Caitlyn, Luke, and John Strecker; Shaunna (Jeff) Dobbs and their children Ethan and Kate Dobbs; Jacqui Lincoln; Dr. Jaymie (Steve Mokris) Strecker; and Benjamin (Martha Roseberry) Strecker.

She remarried on June 17, 1966 to Arthur R. Edwards. He died July 14, 2013. She is survived by his three children: Stephen (Sandy) Edwards of Upper Arlington, Susan (David) Armstrong of Williamstown, and Nancy (Jack) Brum of Marietta. She is also survived by his grandchild, Matthew Armstrong, and his son Porter Armstrong.

Jeanne will be remembered for her willingness to listen and her ability to face adversity with a smile and without bitterness. She was a wonderful mother and will be missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.

Jeanne’s family would like to thank her friends Sandy Lamb and Wanda Hart for their care and devotion to giving Jeanne a good life to the very end.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Jeanne be remembered by contributions to Christ United Methodist Church, the Marietta Community Foundation (Arthur and Jeanne Edwards Charitable Fund), or the Marietta YMCA.

The family will greet friends on Friday (June 1) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
