Jeffrey “David” Morris

Jeffrey "David" Morris, 50, of Marietta, died peacefully at home on Dec. 15, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
 
He was born in Arlington, Va., to Dean E. and Mary L. (Raper) Morris, on Sept. 27, 1964, his mother's birthday.
 
He was a 1983 graduate of Marietta Senior High School. He was employed at Big Lots, Farr Mfg. for 20 years, and most recently, Walmart. His co-workers would tell you he was a very hard worker and always ready to lend them a hand.
 
His passions were his family, reading, fishing, his many fur babies, music, muscle cars, vintage movies with his wife, the Cincinnati Bengals, and he was a devoted Ohio State Buckeye sports fan.
 
He is survived by his mother; his loving wife and caregiver, Betty I. Lewis Morris, whom he married on Nov. 25, 1994; his in-laws, Earl and Rosalie Lewis of Williamstown; his brother, "Butch" and Sharon Morris; and his sisters, Terry and Randy Sloter, and Pam and Greg Nicholson, all of Marietta, and Debbie and Dan Morris of Waco, Texas. He is also survived by a niece and nephew he was very close to, Amanda Nicholson and Michael Morris; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his best friend, Kyle Wenzel; his brothers-in-law, Earl and Vivian Lewis of Williamstown, and Michael and April Lewis of Cecilia, Ky.; and sister-in-law, Diane and Charles Leeper of Charleston, S.C. He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Otto and Mary Raper, Denny, and Edna Morris; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathy Morris; his great-nephew, Trent Morris; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
As per his wishes, his remains will be cremated, with the memorial service to honor his life to be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, at the First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown.
 
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, Marietta.
