Jim J. Burnette
Jim J. Burnette, 84, of Lawford, WV died March 13, 2012 at his home with his daughter and granddaughter at his side.
Jim retired after 30 yrs. of service from Mohawk Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, Ohio. He moved to Auburn WV in 1976. He was an active member of the Marietta Bible College, which he truly loved. Over the many years, he helped sponsor young adults from all over the world to be educated at the Bible College.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Bea of 52 yrs. and his son James Eugene Burnette.
Jim is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children son Dan (Becky) of Manchester, Oh, son Don (Marie) of York, SC and Judy Lightfritz (Sam) of Akron, Oh. Grandchildren Christy, Adam (Kristi), Jenna, Amy (Aaron), Jason (Jill), Don Jr., Joe and Michelle. Great grandchildren Lindsey, Landen, Hunter, Noah, Madison, Tanis and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is also preceded in death by his wife LaVonne Goff Burnette of 5 yrs.
He is survived and greatly missed by his step-children Ella ( Mike) Reed and Eric(Jamie)Goff. Step-grandchildren Kayla, Neil and step-great grandson Hunter.
His strong faith, his family and his church family were paramount throughout his life and even more so during his illness.
He will be remembered for his love of life, humor and laughter even in stressful times by all who knew him.
The family would like to express special thanks to Housecalls Hospice with deep appreciation for Missy and Diana.
Funeral Services will be 10 am Saturday March 17th at the Marietta Bible Center. Burial will follow at Spruce Creek Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Marietta Bible Center from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Friday. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family.
