Joan Beardmore Morris

Joan Beardmore Morris of Marietta passed away peacefully at Marietta Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 14, 2009.

She was born on July 12, 1931 in Marietta, the only daughter and middle child of Clyde Beardmore and Clara. Rowland Beardmore McClead.  She was proud of the fact that her four brothers all served in a branch of the service.    She   was raised as a Methodist and attended school in Newport and Marietta.    On June 7, 1952 she married Richard "Dick" Morris.    During his 2O years in the United States Air Force they lived in Texas and Indiana.    She was a devoted -wife and mother and grandmother.  She loved recalling times spent with her grandsons.    Her favorite Kitty, Sassy, will miss her very much.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Morris of the home, and ; Mary Jo Montgomery of"  New Matamoras.    Her grandsons are Sean Montgomery and Joshua Montgomery of New Matamoras, and their brothers, Jay, Darrin, and Steve Montgomery. She is also survived by her brother Paul Beardmore and his wife, Alice, sisters-in—law Mary Martha "Marty" Morris, Doris Morris., and Leticia "Tede" Kampmeier, brother-in-law David Morris and his wife Shirley, all of Marietta, and brother-in-law Roy Morris and his wife Elaine of West Virginia.   She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 11, 1986, her parents and stepfather Furl McClead, and brothers William, Charles (Tom), and Philip.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, July 16 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Rick Headley officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 pm Wednesday until the hour of service.
