Joan Louise Thompson
Joan Louise Thompson, 70, of Marietta, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and Pastor. She was born on January 24, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of Robert T. McElfresh, Sr. and Clara Allen Farley McElfresh.
She attended Marietta High School, started her career at Selby General Hospital and became a nurse’s aide at various area nursing homes. She was a homemaker for many years. Joan attended North Hills Baptist Church faithfully.
She married Robert Diedrich and her second husband Glen Thompson, both preceded her in death.
Joan is survived by her children: Julie Hupp and fiancé Roger Thompson, Betty Crousser, Christina (Ron) Delancy; grandchildren: Kristy Hunter, Rachael (Isaac) Erb, Carrie (James) Kauffman, Merissa Summers, Kayla Flesher, Wyatt and Waylon Delancy; 4 great grandchildren; sisters Donna Jean (Alvin) Ludwig and Sandra Groves and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by brothers, Roger Farley and Anthony McElfresh and son-in-law Randy Hupp.
Funeral services will be held on Friday (Oct. 4) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Don Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Barker Cemetery.
