Joanne Carol (Schramm) Leasure

Joanne Carol (Schramm) Leasure passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Mount Carmel East Hospital at the age of 84 after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by family and friends and passed in the arms of her loving husband of 66 years.
 
She was born on May 31, 1932 in Marietta, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel Schramm (Place). 
 
At an early age, Joanne was shown to be a gifted tap dancer and pianist. In the early 1940’s she won the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs piano competition as a member of the Marietta Juvenile Music Club. She later played the piano in the Virgil Davis Dance Band that performed regularly in the Marietta area throughout the late 1940’s. She also enjoyed being a cheerleader throughout her high school years. In 1950, she graduated from the Marietta Senior High School and married Clyde Junior Leasure on August 5, 1950. 
 
Joanne’s life was dedicated to her three deep loves – her family, her music and her relationship with God. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife. She was very active in the music worship at the churches she attended where she directed the choir and played piano and organ. She taught piano for over twenty years and also worked as an aide at the Junior High School and in the music department at Marietta Senior High School. 
 
Joanne is survived by her husband, Clyde, of Pickerington, Ohio; children Mark Alan (Jane) of Reynoldsburg, Michael Todd (Catherine) of Melbourne, FL, Teresa Lynn Ploesser of Canal Winchester, and Timothy Lee (Lasea) of Pickerington; nine beautiful grandchildren and three beautiful great grandchildren; sisters Karen Hock (Jim) and Renise Wynn (Jim). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dwayne. 
 
Calling hours will be held at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford funeral home in Marietta, Ohio on Saturday, July 9, from 6 – 8 PM. The service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 10, at 1:30 PM with Pastor Gordie Deer officiating. The graveside service will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
