John A. Schwartz, Sr.

John A. Schwartz, Sr., of Marietta, Ohio passed away on November 21, 2018. He was born February 23,1933, in Washington County, Ohio to Samuel Schwartz and Emma Williams Schwartz.

He graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelors and Masters degree, and did advanced work at Ohio University. He was an Environmental Education Specialist in the Columbus, Ohio Public Schools.

He later was principal at the New Matamoras Elementary and Junior High School for 12 years before retiring from education after 30 years. He was owner of the Four Season’s Realty and the High Point Oil and Gas Company for years.

He was a member of the Local and State Teachers Association, Lions Club, and was on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross. He served two years in Korea receiving numerous awards, including a Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant.
In 1952, he married Faye Burkhart (35 years). Survivors include a son (Joal) John A. Schwartz Jr., and one granddaughter, Nichole Marie Schwartz.

He requested there be no funeral. There will be no calling hours or flowers, except for a yellow rose from his son.

He requested that any contributions go to make someone happy. Give the flowers to the living. Enjoy life while you can.
