John William Bolen,.III

John William Bolen, III, aka “Cobbler John”, 66 of Marietta passed away at 11:10 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at The Arbors.  He was born in Bayonne, NJ, a son of the late John William Bolen II and Rose DeCamillis Bolen.

 
John was a long time president of the Blues, Jazz and Folk Music Society, volunteered for the Marietta Tourist and Convention Bureau and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Vietnam war.   
 
For 33 years, he and his wife owned and operated Cobbler John’s Shoe Service that is now owned and operated by William “Billy” Gossett.
 
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marguerite “Peggy” Schmidt Bolen, and 2 daughters, Bonie Lee Bolen of Marietta and Elizabeth A. Bolen (Julie Kronenberger) of Columbus; 1 sister Roseann Bolen DePasquale (Philip J.) of Waretown, NJ; nephew Brian Folker (Caroline); 2 great nieces, Katherine and Lauren Folker.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Mar. 1) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.  Burial will be in the new St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
