Joseph E. Best
Joseph E. Best, 85, passed from this life Saturday morning, March 24, 2012, at his home in Oak Grove. He was born May 29, 1926 in Whipple, Ohio.
He retired from B. F. Goodrich Company in 1988 with 41 years of service. He had been a member of the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He loved mowing lawns and gardening, and he was an avid bowler along with cheering on his grandchildren from the stands at their sporting events and watching the local sports teams. Joe also enjoyed Nascar.
On October 31, 1953, he married Ruth Ellen Cunningham. She survives with two sons, Larry Best and his wife Maxine and Garry Best and his wife Becky both of Marietta; and three grandchildren: Nicole, Justin and Nathan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Enid Best, three brothers: Kenneth, Clyde and Lloyd and one granddaughter Shea Nicole.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (March 28) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Schmelzenbach officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.
