Juanita K. Davis
Juanita K. Hallett Davis, 90, of Maple Street, Marietta, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born on April 26, 1920, in Lower Salem, OH, to Carl and Minnie Kimnach Hallett. She graduated from Lower Salem High School in 1937. Juanita opened a neighborhood grocery store on Maple Street in 1954 and closed in 1977. It was a great place to chat with neighbors and many friends.
After a previous marriage, on December 23, 1961, she married Tommie L. Davis, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 7, 1980.
Juanita is survived by 3 sons: Tommie Davis, Jr. (Lori) of Waverly, WV, Robert Hedrick (Pam) of Centerville, OH, C. Richard Hedrick (Sue) of Marietta and daughter, Janice Nichols of Marietta, step-daughter Debbie Brown (Jeff) of Marysville, OH, 8 grandchildren: Meredith and Greta Davis, Jennifer Nangle (Greg), Jeffrey Hedrick, Reed Hedrick, Mac Hedrick (Paula), Lori Rothlisberger and Lisa Hasley (Rex), 14 great grandchildren, and 6 great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Buchanan of Marietta, Wilma Leatherman of Eureka, IL, and a brother Jesse Hallett of Alliance, OH, sisters-in-law, Leora Twiggs and Gloria Arbaugh, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Pauline, Clarice, Vera and brother John.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (June 16th) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Salem Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 noon.
