Karen DePuy McVay

Karen L. DePuy McVay, 75, of Marietta passed away at 9:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Heartland of Marietta.  She was born on June 24, 1936, at Moss Run, a daughter of Allie and Esther Britton Shook.  She had been employed at Washington Electric Cooperative retiring as Head Billing Clerk.  Karen was a member of Moss Run Community Church and she enjoyed  collecting Ty Beanie Bears-a favorite of her great grandchildren, Fenton Glass and traveling.

On November 21, 1951, she married Gale Clifford DePuy who preceded her in death on March 28, 1952.  One son survives, Gale David (Barbara) DePuy I of Dart.

On June 5, 1960, she married Lewis G. McVay who preceded her in death on March 27, 1988.

Five grandchildren survive:  Tammy (Ryan) Layton of Whipple, Teresa DePuy and her friend Rob Benton of Newport, Gale (Rachel) DePuy II of Dart, Tracy (Kevin) Hines of Frankfort, OH, Tina DePuy of Dart; great grandchildren:  Drew, Derek, Devin, Dawson, and Denay Layton; Gabriel Benton; Carly and Tabitha Stricker and Gale DePuy III; Kenley and Grady Hines.  Also surviving are sisters:  Eileen (Don) Brittsan, Marilyn (Bill) Becker, Lila (Wade) Becker; special niece Kim Johnson and her girls Katie and Brandi Johnson along with several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Harold and Ellis Shook.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Jan. 28) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Lauderman officiating.  Burial in Moss Run Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday after 4:00pm.
