Kathryn “Kathie” Burman

Kathryn “Kathie” Burman, 62, of Marietta, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after battling cancer. Kathie was a loving wife and mother who was not only kind, thoughtful, and generous, but she had a zest for life and an adventurous spirit. If she wasn’t trying something new like sushi making or golfing, you could find her in the garden or laughing with family and tickling grandchildren.

Kathie was born January 7, 1952 in Marietta, Ohio to Dean and Jean (Whittaker) Hoffert. She graduated in 1970 from Marietta High School and then attended Miami Valley Hospital School for Nursing. Kathie loyally worked for the majority of her career with LPL Financial as a Registered Manager of Financial Planning & Investments and later as a Client Relations Manager. She was a member of Putnam Congregational Church.

After 43 years of living throughout the Midwest, Kathie returned to Marietta and on April 5, 2014 married her best friend Raymond Burman who survives and her as well as her children, Matthew James Casto (Katie), Michael Eric Casto, and Ami Kathleen Casto. Also surviving are her beautiful grandchildren that meant so much to “Grammy”, Ava Sophia, Gianna Neveah, twins Alivia Grace and Maddox James, Liam Matthew and Michael Stephen, her father Dean and sister Barb Jackson (David) and brother Ron Hoffert (Sue) along with her dear nieces and nephews. She will be truly missed by all.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 4th at 11am at Putnam Congregational Church in Devola with Chaplin Joy Wright officiating. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers her children have set up a memorial fund.  Donations may be sent to the KEB Memorial Fund at Settler’s Bank 115 3rd St, Marietta, OH 45750.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
