L. Jane Dickson Corbett
L. Jane Dickson-Corbett, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on May 9th, 2024. She was born on July 4th, 1938, in Barlow, Ohio.
Jane was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with her warm and welcoming nature. She was a dedicated member of various organizations, including the USAC Drivers Wives Association, a Girl Scouts Leader, the Catholic Women’s Club, the Marietta Boat Club, and OPERS. Her commitment to serving others was evident in her role as Director of Combined Charity at ODOT.
She will be fondly remembered for her exceptional potato soup, strong work ethic, unforgettable personality, and infectious laugh. Jane had a gift for connecting with people and an uncanny ability to to trace a friend’s ancestry with ease.
Jane is lovingly remembered by her companion David Wittekind, daughters Marcia Dickson of Marietta, Cynthia McClay of McDermott, and their father Larry Dickson, grandchildren Chad (Crystal) Canfield, Jayne Ann (Craig) Call, Megan Roach, Abby (Tim) Craft, great-grandchildren Ryleigh, Cash, Remy, Madelyn, Joanna, Judson, Skyler, and Caden as well as sisters Jo Ann (Gary) Vanwey, Donna (Tom) Weinrich, and sister in-law Patty Benson. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry A Benson and Dorothy V (Lasure) Benson and a brother Jerry Benson.
Jane’s educational journey includes graduating from Barlow Vincent High School and earning a nursing scholarship to Ohio University.
Throughout her career, Jane made significant contributions working at Marietta Savings and Loan, as a clerk for Judge Lane at Marietta Municipal Court, and as a construction secretary for the Ohio Department of Transportation, where she retired in 2012.
Jane relished the high-speed world of NASCAR and Indy racing, supported the Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoyed attending country music concerts.
As the chapter closes on a life richly lived, L. Jane Dickson-Corbett, we celebrate a life filled with love, service, and the joy she brought to so many. Her spirit, characterized by kindness, dedication, and an unforgettable laugh, will be deeply missed and eternally treasured by all who knew her. Her impact on the community and her family’s lives will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, on May 14, 2024 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial to follow in Barlow Central Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4-8 on Monday. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
