Larry Rhodes Mincks, Jr.
Larry Rhodes Mincks, Jr., 38, of Marietta, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 5, 2015. He was born in Marietta on April 4, 1977 to Larry and Deborah (Morris) Mincks.
Larry was born and raised in Marietta, where he grew up loving everything about aeronautics and flight. He was a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he obtained a degree in Aerospace Engineering and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant with the United States Air Force after successfully completing the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. After sustaining a spinal cord injury, he returned to Marietta and worked for the Washington County Sheriff's Office for almost 15 years. There, he prided himself on entertaining the readers of the Marietta Times with his witty and humor-filled news releases. He was an avid sports fan, with torn loyalties between his Cincinnati Bearcats and the Ohio State Buckeyes, and loved his fantasy football league and all of its members. Larry touched the lives of numerous people through his caring and thoughtful heart, tutoring, and constant willingness to be there for somebody in need.
Larry was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Along with his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Chris Mincks and Shawn Mincks (Allison), both of Columbus; his nephew and niece, Cameron and Grace Mincks; his grandmother Dorothy Mincks; his best friend Eric Haddox; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Mary “Almeda” Morris, and his uncle William “Bill” Morris.
