Lee Alan Hamel

Lee Alan Hamel (69) of Lower Salem, Ohio left to be with the Lord on January 21, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on September 16, 1949 in Pennsylvania and lived in Amherst, Ohio where he graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in 1968. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1972 with a degree in biology and education. He worked at Nordson Corporation for several years and was also a police officer with the Amherst Police Department. Lee moved to Noble County, Ohio in 1979 where he became a skilled taxidermist and gunsmith. He apprenticed under the world famous Cecil Brooks and built presentation flint lock rifles for the National Rifle Association.

Lee met the love of his life and married Amy (Nutter) Stewart on November 8, 2017. Lee is survived by his wife Amy, stepdaughter Tracy Wentz (Chip), step-grandchildren Brooklyn and Chase Wentz, brother Tom Hamel (Peg), nieces Kari and Kristi, nephew Tommy Jr., numerous cousins and his beloved puppy Mitsy. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Alma Raylor Hamel. He will be greatly missed by a very large number of close friends.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday January 26th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
