Lee Robert Prunty

Lee Robert Prunty, 82, of Marietta, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at 12:25 pm at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born on July 12, 1927, in Marietta, son of Harry Otis and Mattie Jane Merrow Prunty.  Lee was a member of IBEW Local 972 of Marietta, was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII, attended Little Muskingum Congregational Church, and was a member of Masonic American Union Lodge #1.  He was a certified archery instructor for Ohio 4-H program for the past 10 years, Past Commodore of Marietta Boat Club, and a volunteer for Marietta Public Schools.

He is survived by his wife Dion Hock whom he married on May 23, 1987.  He is also survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters:  Jeff (Karen) Prunty of Marietta and their children Ben, Corry, Adam; Harry (Sandy) Prunty of Virginia Beach, VA and their children Jill, Scott, Katie; Jamie Prunty of Atlanta; Merrilee (Mike) Burton of Marietta and their children Emilie, Greg, Bryan; Peggy (George) Schlicher of Marietta and their children Maggi, Andrea, Jared, Jeremy, 8 great grandchildren and 3 stepsons:  Dustin (Kristin) Becker and their children Amelia and Clara; Joshua (Angie) Becker and their children Mahlen and Blake; Nathan Becker and friend Jenny Yoho and her son Gavin Lemasters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Albert and sister Alice Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (October 14) at 3:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Dick Saltzwadel officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.
