Lois June Slater Reed

Lois June Slater Reed of Marietta Ohio passed away on Aug. 10, 2024.
She was born in Marietta, Feb. 7, 1927, the daughter of Clyde West Slater and Lucy Williamson Slater and was a Methodist by faith.
She was born in Marietta, Ohio and moved to Zanesville at the age of 9. She graduated from Lash High School in 1944. She attended Colburn Methodist Church where she was baptized. She worked as a legal secretary for four years. She married Richard E. Reed 1946 and they moved to Marietta 1948.

She is survived by two sons, James R. Reed (Rosemary), Donald D. Reed (Melanie) and Daughter-in-law Diane Reed all who live the Marietta/Lowell Ohio area. Ten grandchildren Darcy Reed (Frank), Amy Jacob (Daron), Kasey Myers (Nickolas), Matthew Reed (Michele), Ben Reed (Anne), Nicholas Reed, Shawn Wilson, Jeremy Reed (Holly), Melissa Brookover (Clayton), Michele Reed and 11 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 77 years Richard E. Reed who passed in Jan. of 2024. son William A. Reed who passed in 2022 and grandson Josh Reed, who died in 2021, infant great granddaughter Poppy, her parents Clyde and Lucy Slater, sister Norma Jean Lemmon, brothers David Hugh Slater, George E. Slater, and infant brother James Slater.
She was a proud stay-at-home wife and Mother, a quiet woman with a great sense of humor who loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and would do anything within her power for them.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday (Aug. 16) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Family will greet friends on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the service. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
