Louis E. Urschel Sr

Louis E. Urschel Sr, 92 of Marietta, Ohio passed away at Heartland of Marietta OH on December 10, 2018. He was born at home in Williamstown WV on September 5, 1926, the son of the late Rudolph and Carrie Merrow Urschel. His mother died at his birth and he was raised by his Uncle and Aunt, Louis and Jennie Merrow Dauber. He was baptized in the Church of Christ, January 23, 1966.
Louis served in the United States Navy during WWII. Following his military service he worked as a machinist, US Postal Service mail carrier and a road salesman for Marietta Ignition, Inc. for 34 years where he retired in June 1991. He was an Amateur Radio Operator (K8YLW). He also owned and operated an electronic supply business, Urschel Electronics for 26 years.
Survivors include his daughters, Sarah (David) Schafer of Marietta OH, Geraldine Mackey of Belpre OH, Juanita (Loren) Vanfossen of Sevierville TN, Beverly (John) Dollison of Marietta OH, Sharon Holter of Marietta OH, sons, Louis (Donna) Urschel Jr of Chapin SC, Ned (Cam) Urschel of Lexington KY, Rodney (Laura) O’Brien, Canal Winchester OH. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and three sisters, Amelia Jane Stemple, Rudolphia Carrie Marshall, Sarah Matilda Urschel and one brother, Clarence George Urschel.
Services will be 2:00 pm, December 13th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, with Roger Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with full military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 and 1 hour before the service.
