Mark J. Board

Mark J. Board, 55, of Marietta, went to be the Lord at 12:48am on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born on March 29, 1956, in Covington, Virginia, to Charles Board and Carma Lou Hill Board of Newport.

Mark was employed by Pioneer Chevrolet as an auto body technician and was a member of Marietta Bible Center.  He enjoyed restoring cars and spending time with his grandson.

On July 31, 1979, he married Barbara Brooks who survives with 2 daughters and 1 son:  Sheena (Dan) Arnold, Shannon Board, Shayne Board and grandson Ian Arnold all of Marietta; 3 sisters and 1 brother:  Karen (Jerry) Binegar of Newport, Joni (Julian) Hackathorn of Waverly, WV, Andretta (Timothy) Condon of Maineville, OH, Matthew Board of Chicago, IL and several nieces and nephews and great nephew, Evan.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday (September  15) at 1:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Offenberger officiating.  Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.
