Mary A. Canterbury, 76, of Waterford passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 7, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born on May 4, 1944, in Marietta. She was the daughter of Walter H. and Alice E. (Kern) Klinger. She graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1962 and attended Valley Beauty School. She was a beautician for over 46 years. Mary was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s Club. Her interests included playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, infectious laugh and caring ways.

On October 8, 1966, she married Richard Canterbury who survives with their children: Jeff (Charlene) Canterbury of Waterford, Jana (David) Karanicolas of Cleveland, Joanna (Brett) Burt of Marietta, Jason (Erika) Canterbury of Vincent, 9 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Ashley, Richard, Hannah, Emma, Weston, Evelyn and Elsie and 2 great grandchildren, Braden and Henry. She is also survived by her brother, Bernard (Sue) Klinger of Lowell and sister, Barb (Dave) Stevens of Beverly and sister-in-law, Donna Klinger of Waterford and several nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends on Thursday (June 11) from 2-4 and 6-8 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with a Rosary service held at 4:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Charles Klinger and Father David Gaydosik as co-celebrants. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name will be appreciated to St John’s Catholic Church School Foundation or Amedisys Hospice.
