Mary Elizabeth Burdette

Mary Elizabeth Burdette, 97, of Whipple, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend departed this earth and began her heavenly journey on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She was born March 7, 1922 in Warren Township to Howard and Mary E. (Taylor) Harris. She was a homemaker and had attended Marietta High School. Mary was active in the Stanleyville Homemakers Club, Stanleyville Ladies Guild and attended Wagner Union Church.

On August 16, 1941 she married Chester H. Burdette who preceded her in death on June 17, 1995.

Surviving are sons, Chet Burdette and Timothy (Ruth) Burdette both of Marietta. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jeff (Penny) Stacy, Ronald Stacy, Cathy Becker, Michelle (Troy) Gaughan, Tara Burdette, Chad (Mary) Burdette, Sherry Brooker, Regina Moore and Jeff (Katie) Burdette, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grand children.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter Peggy Stacy, sons Ronald Dean and David Lee Burdette, a brother Roy Harris, and sisters Alice Babcock, Dora Stollar and Freda Hockenberry.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm Saturday, April 27th at Wagner Union Church (1584 Glendale Rd, Marietta, OH 45750) with Pastor Gene Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home beginning at 4 pm on Friday with the family present from 4 to 7 and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
