Portrait of Michael James Paul Ward

Michael James Paul Ward
April 9, 1959 – May 12, 2025
Michael James Paul Ward, 66, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away at his home on May 12, 2025, surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
Born on April 9, 1959, in Marietta, to Anna Marie and William Ward. A lifelong resident of Marietta, he was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Michael was a machinist by trade and spent over 30 years at Skuttle Manufacturing where he served as Plant Manager. He later continued his career as Director of Maintenance at Glenwood Retirement Home. After retiring, Michael pursued his passion for repair work by founding M&R Repair Shop LLC. If it needed fixing, Michael was the man to call. Known for his problem-solving abilities, he was the go-to person for anyone needing help, whether it was an engine, a machine, or just about anything else. His friends and family always said that he was an encyclopedia of knowledge, always ready with a solution.
Michael was most content in his shop, which he called his “happy place.” It was there, surrounded by tools and projects, with at least one John Deere tractor nearby, that he did his best thinking and found peace. He was happiest when surrounded by family, whether it was out four-wheeling and hunting on the farm, sipping a Pepsi and sharing stories around the dinner table, or riding his beloved Goldwing motorcycle with his wife close behind him while exploring God’s creation. Michael was a man who lived simply and loved deeply.
He was lovingly known as “Pappy” to his grandson Cody, always making sure Cody had a little “walking around money” and a whole lot of wisdom. Michael’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the countless repairs he made both to engines and to hearts.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Regenia; his sons Shaun (Kristah) of Shelbyville, KY, and Jason of Newark, OH; and his cherished grandson Cody of Newark, OH. He is also survived by his parents Anna Marie and William Ward; his siblings William (Judy) Ward, Robert Ward, Richard (Roberta) Ward, and Julie (William) Cain; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 15th, at 11:00 a.m., with burial immediately following at East Lawn Memorial Park. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kelli Cawley and her staff, as well as the Cawley Hospice Team, for their compassionate care and support.
Michael’s life was a testament to hard work, faith, and love. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
