Mildred J. “Millie Luke
Mildred J. “Millie" Luke, 73, of Newport formerly of Marietta, went to be with her Lord, unexpectedly on Saturday, April 26, 2014. She was born June 2, 1940, in Parkersburg a daughter of the late Ruth E. Buck and E. T. Freshour. In 2009 she retired from Harmar Place after 30+ years as a STNA.
Mildred was a God loving person who took care of people most of her life. She enjoyed her little dog, Shiloh and cats, Smokey & Sassy. She attended O’Neill Adult Day Center where she enjoyed the friends she made, playing Bingo, dominos and Uno but most of all she enjoyed reading her Bible, doing Bible word search and Bible coloring books. Mildred attended Williamstown Church of Christ in earlier years.
Mildred is survived by one daughter, Dee (Greg) Martin of Fleming, 2 granddaughters: Stephanie (Todd) Castin of Barlow and Lindsay (Paul) Russell of Washington, WV; 3 sisters: Edna (Richard) Drillien of Barberton, OH, Garnet (Jack) Powell of Parkersburg, Elfrieda (George) Nicewander of Phoenix, AZ; 5 great grandchildren: Cale and Ty Castin of Barlow, Alivia, Adelynn and Avalea Russell of Washington, WV, several nieces, nephews, longtime friend and caregiver Lorraine Ramage with whom she made her home. She will also be missed by Robin (Richard) Seevers, David Ramage II, Carlin Ramage, Shane (Angela) Ramage, along with their family members and many other friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son John and infant son Bobby.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Apr. 30) at 12:00 noon at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home followed by cremation. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 until the time of the service. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
