Mildred R. Smith
Mildred R. “Millie” Deeter Smith, 87, of Marietta, former resident of Norwood in Marietta, passed away at 6:45 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at The Arbors of Marietta.
She was born on September 20, 1923, in Jacksonville, Ohio, a daughter of Frank and Freida Shirkey. Millie had worked at Corning Glass in Parkersburg. She enjoyed music and played the piano for many years for the “Senior Singers” at O’Neill Senior Center.
Millie is survived by two children: James Deeter and his wife Betsy and Cindi Newland and her husband David; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband James Deeter, Sr. and her second husband H. Paul Smith, and son Michael A. Deeter.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 17, at 4:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with family greeting friends immediately following the service.
