Norma Jean Hanna

Norma Jean Hanna, 85, of Marietta, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2019 at 9:49 a. She was born at home in Lower Salem, Ohio on November 30, 1933, the daughter of George McKinley and Elizabeth (Kimnach) Muhlbach. She is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Betty Colli, Kathleen Fulton and Robert Muhlbach. Norman (Theresa) Merrow was a special member of her family while growing up.
On January 30, 1960 she married John Edward Hanna and with their union gave her the four children that became the center of her world for the rest of her life, and as she would say, “my crowning achievement”, Susan Welch, Mark (Christine) Hanna and twins Jean (Rick) Lantz and Jane (Mike) Skeen. Mom was a dedicated and supportive mother in every way possible; we all knew how lucky we were. She deeply loved her grandchildren, Grant, Mason, Paige, LeeAnn, Jonathon and Holly; and six nieces and nephews, Linda (Randy) Ward, Madeline (Perley) Hill, Priscilla (Roger) Williams, Sandy (Jerry) Williams, Shila MacDonald (deceased), Barbara Beggs and Dan Muhlbach.
Norma graduated from Salem Liberty High School. While life focused on family and farming, Norma enjoyed careers at Citizens National Bank and Washington State Community College. Norma retired from WSCC in 2007 after 22 years of service. Throughout her life she enjoyed helping people. Norma was a member of Tunnel United Methodist Church
A very special thank you from our mother (and all of us) to those who provided very compassionate care throughout this journey: physicians Dr. Lloyd Dennis and Dr. Kelli Cawley, and wonderful caregivers: Doris, Lois, Jessica, Kayla and Michayla.
