Patricia Jane Legleitner Foy

Patricia Jane Legleitner Foy departed this world to enter the Kingdom of God on June 25, 2011.

Pat, the oldest of four children, was born July 25,1929 in Warren, Ohio to Fred Legleitner, Sr and Voneda (Jaunita) Hufford Legleitner. Pat lived in several towns as she grew up; Martins Ferry, Ohio, Waterford, Ohio, Gary, Indiana, and Marietta, Ohio. She graduated Marietta High School in 1947. While in high school, she played flute in the band and orchestra, was active in many clubs and organizations, and made many, lasting friendships.

Pat's first job after graduating was with National Drug at Front and Putnam Street in Marietta. She then worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She loved buying fashionable clothes with shoes and purses to match which, she later discovered were borrowed by her sister to wear to school. (Pat often joked that her beloved sister was the best-dressed girl in high school.)

Mutual friends introduced Pat to John Foy, a Marietta College student, at the Silver Moon restaurant. They married August 16,1952 in a small ceremony at Pat's parents' home on Gravel bank. John was a World War II veteran and worked as a laboratory technician for Union Carbide. John and Pat then made their home in Marion, Indiana where their first son, Jeffrey John was born. They relocated to Marietta and soon expanded their family to include Chris William, Rebecca Jane, and Dan Michael.

When their youngest son Dan was in middle school, Pat took bookkeeping and computer classes at Washington Technical College and worked at Marietta Metals Corp. When Pat had the opportunity to work in her community, by helping the Warren Water Association offer a public water system to the area, Pat was an active force from the very beginning. She went door-to-door getting signed petitions to ensure that the necessary number of customers were available to establish the water system. After the water system was operating, Pat worked as bookkeeper and office manager until her retirement in 1990. She also met and came to know most everyone on the waterline system; always having a nice word or memory about everyone she met.

Pat instilled within her children the love of God, family, neighbors, and to help those less fortunate. She taught by example; the importance of hard work, the love of reading, and to always be respectful. She also valued a sense of humor, chocolate, and a good cup of coffee!

Pat's family and friends were always near and dear to her heart. She loved family reunions, being with her Grand-children and Great-Grandchildren, tending her gardens, bowling, The Red Hats Society, The Ladies Auxiliary of the Marietta VFW and American Legion Post 64. She enjoyed reading, crafts, sewing, square dancing, and traveling to many states within the U.S.

Most of all, Pat enjoyed praising and serving her Lord, Jesus Christ. She raised her children as members of the Gravel Bank Presbyterian Church and later, she became a member of the 6th Street Church of Christ.

Gathering to greet her in heaven are her parents, Fred and Voneda Hufford Legleitner, her husband of 32 years, John, their son, Jeffrey, her brother Fred, and stepfather Charles Oliver, and many other family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Chris Foy (Barbara); daughter, Rebecca Davis (Howard); and son, Dan Foy, (Maria). Grandchildren are Briar Hendrickson (Jason); Tabitha Pusateri (Adam); Trenton Davis; Whitney Davis; Sara Foy; Emily Foy; Taylor Foy; Madison Foy; Eric Mercer, (Carissa); Stacey Merrill, (Mike); Melissa Hearn, (Larry); and nine Great-Grandchildren. Sister-in-law Sharon Legleitner; Sister Gert Fryman (Bill); Brother Craig Legleitner (Joann); and stepsister, Betty Kelly; Also mourning her passing are many extended family and friends too numerous to mention by name but who are in our hearts as they were in hers.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Roger Rush, the staff and nurses at Harmar Place, and all those whose visits and cards brightened her days.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (June 29) at 3:30pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Roger Rush officiating.   Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Tuesday afternoon with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.  Private burial will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of their son Jeffrey John Foy.
