Paul R. Wenzel
Paul R. Wenzel, 83, of Reno passed away at 7:10 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Heartland of Marietta. He was born December 12, 1931, in Marietta to Earl and Mabel Lauer Wenzel. On October 16, 1955, he married Darlyn Nye who preceded him in death on November 13, 2011.
Paul was employed at Broughton Foods before his retirement. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church and was a Cub Scout Leader, Past President of Marietta Evening Lions Club, and long time coach of Marietta Bantam Baseball League. Paul was a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International, which is the highest honor received in the Lions Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict, where he was a sergeant in the 45th Infantry Division.
He is survived by 2 sons: David Carl (Amanda) Wenzel of Beckley WV and Daryl Paul (Lisa) Wenzel of Hilliard; 3 grandchildren Derek (Jodi Rector) Wenzel of Vienna, Brittany Wenzel and Cassidy Wenzel of Hilliard, OH; 3 step grandsons Braden Mitchell of Marietta and Dylan and Eythan Mitchell of Beckley, and great grandson Ryker Wenzel. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn DeVaughn, sister-in-law Truda and Lloyd Hartshorn, 2 nieces, Michelle Biehl and Diane Hartshorn and nephew, Randy Hartshorn.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Donald.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Oct. 6) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Lloyd Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.
