Phoebia A. Doak

Phoebia Ann Black Doak, 87, of Oak Grove, Marietta, passed away at 2:15 am on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at her home.

She was born on October 17, 1922, at Mannington, WV, a daughter of James Fredrick Black and Lucy Shepphard Wright Black.  Phoebia graduated in 1940 from Bristol High School and 1943 from Marietta College.  She had taught science and history in Elizabeth and Williamstown, WV.  She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, PEO-Chapter BH, Sigma Kappa, Muskingum Garden Club, Oak Grove Missionary Society, Washington County Historical Society and had been a 29 year member of Camp Hervida Board.

On August 18, 1950, she married Robert L. Doak who preceded her in death on March 31, 2008.  Phoebia is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter:  Fredrick I. Doak, William R. (Sam) Doak, and Jane (David) Lennox all of Marietta, 7 grandchildren:  Gayle, Hillary, and Reed Lennox and Linn, Liza, Liam and Emma Doak.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katy Jo.

Funeral services will be held on Friday (September 10th) at 1:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Diann O’Bryant officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00pm on Thursday with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.
