Randall “Randy” Pritchett
Randall E. “Randy” Pritchett, 75, of Marietta passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at his home.
He was born on September 10, 1935, in Newport, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence and Goldie Pritchett. He graduated from Vincent High School in 1953 and was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church. He enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in his backyard and sharing with his family and neighbors. Randy worked for Marietta Truck Growers for 25 years and retired from Washington Landmark and worked closely with River City Farmers Market. He was one-of-a kind, a friend, consultant, and was well-liked and respected by all those he met. He was a volunteer coach in the Bantam League and Washington School for many years. He loved spending time with his family and his many friends and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna Gaughan Pritchett, sons: Dave (Becky) Pritchett of Marietta, Jeff Pritchett of Columbus, Jon Paul and Eric Pritchett of Marietta, 2 grandchildren, Shane and Shanna Pritchett of Marietta, great granddaughter Zoe Elizabeth Pritchett, and special young man, Ronnie McBride who called Randy “Dad.” Also surviving are brothers, Freeman Pritchett of St. Petersburg, FL and Jim Pritchett of Marietta and sister Shelby (Larry) Boyer of Fleming and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first son, Michael Pritchett in 2007, his daughter-in-law Cheryl Pritchett in 2009, his parents, brother Charles Hill, Jr., sisters-in-law Mildred Pritchett and Joan Pritchett and nephew Dennis Pritchett.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (January 29th) at 11:00 am at the Open Door Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Kapple officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00pm with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 and at the church on Saturday after 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy’s memory are requested to Marietta Home Health and Hospice or the Food Pantry of Open Door Baptist Church.
