Raymond Dallas McCloud
Raymond Dallas McCloud of Marietta passed away Tuesday, November 5th at the home of his brother and his wife, Dan and Mariesa McCloud. He was born September 9,1939 in Marietta, Ohio to Mary (Scarbrough) and Russell McCloud. After high school, Sergeant McCloud enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Alaska, after being discharged he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict and Desert Storm. He was a highly decorated Green Beret, Special Forces, and Airborne when he retired from the Army. He was stationed in numerous places including Germany, France, Korea, Vietnam, and Fort Bragg.
On September 15, 2008, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Judy Ann (Kerns) McCloud.
He is survived by two children Jeanna Pennington of Mississippi and Teresa Hutchison of North Carolina, three grandchildren Destin, Tiffanie and Danny, five brothers Danny (Mariesa) McCloud, Jimmie McCloud, Larry (Tonya) McCloud, Mike (Han Ok) McCloud, and Russell McCloud, four sisters Janet (Butch) Mclntosh, Dee (Gary) Ward, Randa (Scott) Arrowood, and Kelly (Rich) Howell, step mother Jean (Don) Brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Russell Jr., and sisters Darlene (Ed) Kostolick, Maxine (Bill) Cassady and Leora (Dick) Callihan, step-father Jack Cunningham, and closest friend Jerry Roush.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 7th, 6:00-9:00 pm, with funeral services at Friday, November 8th, 10:00 am, at McClure, Schafer, Lankford Funeral Home, with full military honors. He will be l interred in Rainbow Cemetery, Lowell. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.
He was a life member of VFW Post 1508, life member of the Special Forces Association, a member of American Legion Post 159, the DAV, Eagles and Moose. Contributions can be made in his memory to American Legion Post 159, Williamstown, WV.
