Raymond Howard Hiener
Raymond Howard Hiener, 95, of Vincent, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born January 30, 1921, in Marietta to the late Walter C. and Ruth A. Hiener.
He attended Marietta High School and served in the Navy during the European Theater during WWII. Ray retired from Union Carbide Metals Marietta. He was a life long farmer and member of the VFW and American Legion. Ray and Doris loved playing bingo and traveling.
On November 2, 1946, Ray married Doris M. Hudnall. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Strahler of Marietta, sons, Steve Hiener of Parkersburg and John (Sandy) Hiener of Vincent; grandchildren: Cathy Strahler, Bryan (Jennifer) Strahler, Nathan (Carolyn) Hiener, Matthew (Brooke) Hiener all of Marietta, Beth (Ron) Pellegrino of Morgantown, WV, Suzannah (Chris) Packert of Colorado, Benjamin (Kristie) Hiener of Daniels WV and Scott Strahler of Cary, NC; great grandchildren: Jack & McKinley Packert, Carson Strahler and Liam, Lila and Connor Hiener. Ray is survived by a brother Walter (Marty) Hiener, Jr., sisters, Louella Wilson, Florence Bartyczak and Mary Louise Hockenberry, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter-in-law Susie Hiener and son-in-law Larry Strahler; sisters Kathryn Ross, Martha Hudnall, Margaret Groves and Helen Yost; brothers Robert and Joseph Hiener, brothers-in-law Andy Bartyczak, Max Ross, Paul Hudnall, Virgil Groves, Dick Hockenberry, John Yost, sister-in-law Rita Hiener and Mary Ann Hiener.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday (May 29) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park.
