Reverend John L. Oliver

Reverend John L. Oliver, 87, of Williamstown passed away at 6:30 am, Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Eagle Point Nursing Home. He was born on March 16, 1931, in Letart, WV, a son of James Lloyd and Gracie Lee (Wheatcraft) Oliver.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Lee College and was an ordained minister of the Church of God. John lived his life for God and his family and was a blessing to so many. John’s ministry included evangelizing in many area churches and singing with his wife, Joan, in several local nursing homes. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. John was a great example for many. He was retired from Fenton Art Glass.

On April 10, 1955, he married Joan Farnsworth who survives with children: John Oliver of Campobello, SC, David (Angie) Oliver of Wellford, SC, Danny Oliver of Williamstown, Theresa (Mike) Wagner of Marietta, James (Diana) Oliver of Parkersburg and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Harold, Larry, and Jimmy Oliver; sisters: Edith, Francis and his twin sister, Jennie.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (March 27) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Burnt Hill (Mt. Pleasant) Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 and one hour before the service on Tuesday. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.
