Richard Lewis Thorne

Richard Lewis Thorne, 92, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at his home. He was born on August 4, 1919, in Marietta a son of Richard Hastings and Emma Senft Thorne. He was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1937, and retired after 35 years in Engineering at Remington Rand. He was a World War II veteran and served with the 42nd and 50th Combat Engineers in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by a cousin, Kathryn L. Best, of Marietta

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sara, brother Percy and sister Helen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday (September 3) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Neil Parsons officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 8:00 until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
