Robert E. Brown, Sr.

Robert E. Brown, Sr. 87, of Lowell, passed away at his home at 4:50 pm on Sunday, November 22, 2009.

He was born on March 2, 1922, in Marietta, a son of Pearly and Nora Ethel Schafer Brown.  Bob had been employed at Remington Rand, owned and operated Browns Confectionary on Putnam Street and retired from the U. S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII, a member of Gilman United Methodist Church, VFW Post 5108, Lowell American Legion Post 750, Macksburg Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Cambridge and Shrine Club of Marietta.

On February 9, 1946, he married Doris Mae Schneeberger who preceded him in death on November 18, 2006.

Bob is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters:  Robert Brown, Jr. and Michael Brown both of Lowell, Kathryn (Ronald) Brilliant of Williamstown, and Barbara Leinaar of Battle Creek, MI; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are 2 brothers and 5 sisters: Charles Brown, Neil Brown, Jean McAtee, Mary Kitts, Phyllis Gustafson, Rose Brown and Susan Brown.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brother Leroy Brown and his 2 sisters, Beatrice Brown and Betty Sprague.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (November 25th) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Diann O’Bryant officiating.  Burial will be in Masterton Cemetery with full military rites.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 on Tuesday with Masonic Services on Tuesday evening at 8:00
