Robert T. McElfresh Jr.

Robert T. McElfresh Jr., 81, of Reno, passed away 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2011, at Marietta Care and Rehab Center with his loving family beside him.

He was born July 19, 1930, in Marietta, to Robert McElfresh Sr. and Miriam Miller McElfresh Bash. Robert had worked as a truck driver for R.O. Wetz Transportation for 35 years before his retirement. He had served in the U.S. Air Force. Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing and building and flying model airplanes.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruby Tidd McElfresh of 59 years, whom he married on May 23, 1952. Also surviving are his daughters Barbara McKnight (Ronald) of Marietta and Dorothy McElfresh of the home; and sons, Robert E. McElfresh (Peggy) and Mark McElfresh (friend Julia) both of Marietta. Also surviving are grandchildren: Shelly Graf (Andy) of Cincinnati, Scott McKnight, Timothy McElfresh, who was raised in the home (Sarah), Matthew McElfresh (Megan), Joshua McElfresh (Kayla), Stacie McElfresh and Andrea McElfresh (Fiance Mark) all of Marietta, Andrew McElfresh and Billy McElfresh of Michigan. Great grandsons Patrick, Dominic, Preston, Ryan all of Marietta; and great-granddaughters, Autumn, Shelby Kay both of Marietta and A.J. and Sophia Michelle both of Cincinnati; a brother, Lyle McElfresh; a half brother, Paul Baker; two half sisters, Sandra Groves (Charles) and Joan Thompson; a step-sister, Donna Ludwig (Alvin) all of Marietta; along with several nieces and nephews also surviving.

In addition to his parents; brothers, Perl and Holbert; and sister, Alice Jean preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday (Nov. 4) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with the Rev. Gale Lauderman officiating. Burial will follow in Valley with full military rites. Friends may call beginning at 2 p.m. today with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
