Robert William Thrasher, Sr.

Robert William Thrasher, Sr., 75, of Marietta, died at 9:00 am, Friday, March 16, 2012, at The Arbors of Marietta.  He was born September 19, 1936, in Marietta to Clarence and Edna Thrasher.  He worked for Dickson’s Rendering for 45 years until his retirement.  He was an avid Nascar and dirt track racing fan.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 
He married Charlotte Ann Mankins, August 22, 1957, who died July 25, 1999.
 
He is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Dave) Emerick of Marietta and Christina (Mike) Bishman of Lowell; two sons, Robert “Bobby” (Cindy) Thrasher, Jr. and Kevin (Sheri) Thrasher both of Marietta.  Nine grandchildren:  Jennifer (Mike) Pugh, Lisa (Luke MacAulay) Emerick, Michael (Jenny) Bishman, Ryan (Brittany) Bishman, Elizabeth Bishman, Stephanie (Chad Boyer) Thrasher, Chelsie Haught, Tyler and Christopher Thrasher; 14 great grandchildren:  Michael and Andrew Pugh, Keith and Kyle Emerick, Alexis and Abigail Bishman, Wyatt Bishman, Keona, Kadin, Keshon, Kaveon and Kyrah Bishman and twin great grandchildren Logan and Cassady Emerick due in the summer 2012, and two god grandchildren, Chelsea and Devon Nitsche of Ben Salem, Pa.  Also surviving are 7 sisters, Carolyn Jordan, Marie McKenna, Ruth Cline, Diane (Kendall) Science, Margaret Fryman, Janice (Paul) Richards, Dorothy Griffin and 2 brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Thrasher.  Also surviving is brother-in-law John Boley and sister-in-law Sharon Thrasher and several nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sisters, Mary Boley, Catherine (Wayne) Mankins and brothers, Leroy and Kenneth Thrasher, brothers-in-law, Myron Jordan, Wayne McKenna and Darrell Fryman and great granddaughter Kylee Wiggins.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday (March 19) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta with Reverend Don Hart officiating.  Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-8 and on Sunday after 2:00.
