Roger L. Nicholson
Roger L. Nicholson, 70, of Fleming, passed away 8:05 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 13, 2011) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born at Waverly, W.Va. on Oct. 1, 1941, to Charles and Deloris Daugherty Nicholson. Roger was a graduate of Warren High School and had served in the U.S. Army. He later retired from Cytec Industries. Roger also was a life member of American Legion Post 64.
Roger married Mary Jane Riel who preceded him in death on June 19, 2011.
Surviving are his brother, Clayton Nicholson (Patricia), of Marietta, and sister, Sharon Wittekind of Cambridge as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Pamela Villavicenia, and a sister, Carolyn Holt.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 17) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Jim Fernihough officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
