Ronald L. Stewart

Ronald L. Stewart, 72, of Williamstown passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 1, 1937 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late James C. Stewart and the late Dorothy Stewart.  Ron graduated from Marietta High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany.  In 2001, Ron retired from DuPont after 42 and a one half years.

In Williamstown, he was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the First United Methodist Church. Ron enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and feeding wild birds. He was an avid fan of Williamstown High School football and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a friend to everyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Ron is survived by his loving wife Sharon and devoted daughter, Lisa. He married Sharon Worstell on August 30, 1964. They recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.  Also surviving is a brother, Robert (Armelda) of Savannah, GA; a sister Nancy (Gary Miracle) of Vincent; a sister-in-law Judy of Brandon, FL; stepmother Loraine Stewart of Punta Gorda, FL and a dear aunt Juanita Craft of Hurricane, WV.  Many good friends and neighbors also survive him.

In addition to his parents, a twin brother Donald preceded Ron in death.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Cawley and her special “Strecker Gals” and Amedysis Hospice for their loving care and support.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday (Sept. 12th) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with American Legion Post 159 officiating with full military honors. Calling hours will begin at the funeral home at 6:00 pm on Thursday with family present on Thursday from 6-8 and on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Strecker Cancer Center, PO Box 97, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
