Roule (Buck) Lowe

Roule (Buck) Lowe, 59, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Selby General Hospital, after a short battle with lung cancer.

Born in Canton, OH, on March 7, 1952, and a resident of Marietta, Buck remained active within the community, even after retirement.  Foremost, he enjoyed supporting the local chapter of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign War).  As a highly-decorated Vietnam war hero, Buck held this organization close to his heart, and he remained an instrumental member, leaving his legacy through a number of accomplishments, including playing a key role in bringing the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to Marietta.

Those who knew Buck best remember him for his genuine and kind nature, love of cats, and mischievous humor, which transcended the city, and even national, borders where he reached out to others in need of hope, encouragement or simply a friend.   Children, too, knew Buck’s joyful influence as he often answered their letters to Santa Claus.  Buck was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed root hunting, fishing, and exploring the state’s many caves and natural wonders.  He also enjoyed bowling and was also an active member of JVP.

Buck is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Lowe, and his brother, Christopher Lowe.  He is survived by his sisters Rebecca Craig (Noel) of Marietta, Melinda Rexroad (Johnny) of Grantsville, WV, and Jackie Miller (Mike) of Washington, WV; one brother, Roger Parsons of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 28th, after 2 p.m. with family present from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29th, at 1 p.m., also at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Gravel Banks Cemetery.
